What is "Sports Chiropractic"?

It is a chiropractor with an advanced expertise in both the prevention and rehabilitation of sports related injury with expert level knowledge in sport-specific strength and conditioning techniques, and optimal bio-mechanics. Treatments focus on myofascial release combined with joint mobilization.

Here are just a few of the treatments we may provide:

  • Active Muscle Release

  • Chiropractic wellness care

  • Chiropractic adjustments

  • Core strengthening exercises

  • Exercise rehabilitation

  • Instrument Assisted Techniques

  • Myofascial release

  • Strength training

  • Stretching activities

  • Taping (RockTape, KT Tape, SpiderTech, etc..)

"Experts estimate that 90 percent of all world-class athletes use chiropractic care to prevent injuries and increase their performance potential.  All National Football League (NFL) teams rely on DCs in varying capacities, and 77 percent of athletic trainers have referred players to a chiropractor for evaluation or treatment." -ACA

Active muscle release is used to allow for free and unimpeded movement of muscles, tendons, nerves and joints, to allow for a dramatic change in comfort, flexibility and strength. For elite athletes, it is used to "dial in" to the athlete’s injury to improve their form and function.

What to Expect

The initial visit will include:

Please arrive a few minutes early to complete the necessary paperwork. If you have any outside x-rays, MRI, CT.. please bring the films and the report, if possible, to the first appointment. We do not take films in the office.

A thorough health history
A physical exam of the area of complaint
A problem focused treatment.*

After, home stretches and/or exercises will be provided to assist in treating any lingering issues.  Understanding that everyone is different, everyone receives an individualized plan. Our ultimate goal is to get our patients back into good health as efficiently as possible.

The follow up visit will include:

Our office does not provide a "care-plan" but we do encourage routine check ups to keep the symptoms down.

Most patients will experience positive change after 1-3 visits and will be able to dictate if they want to continue with care. Our goal is to limit the amount of time spent in our office and let the patient take control of their recovery, under our guidance.

A problem focused history since last treatment
A physical exam of the area of complaint
A problem focused treatment*

*Most treatments will focus on myofascial release. Please wear gym or yoga-type clothing and/or be able to expose the area of complaint, if capable.

*We will explain your treatment options in detail, prior to rendering care. Not everyone is a candidate for Chiropractic care. A typical treatment will consist of heat or ice, electric stimulation, active muscle release, trigger-point release therapy and joint mobilization.

Everyone is an athlete. The only difference is that some of us are in training, and some are not.
